LADIES
Welcome to the ladies section of our website.
All the club competitions at Donnington Valley are fully integrated and are open to all eligible members. There are various formats played during the year, information about these competitions is available from the competitions committee.
The ladies section meets up on most Wednesday mornings at 8.45 for an informal get together to play golf. These are fun mornings, sometimes team events and other times individual, followed by a chance to have a chat and maybe a snack. During the year these mornings include a breakfast and Christmas meeting together with several Doggs & Dolls matches [gentlemen & ladies], followed by lunch. All are welcome.
There are various events during the summer months for the ladies; Birdie Tree, Summer Eclectic, Bronze Round Robin & a 30 – 36 Handicap Round Robin as well as the chance to enter several national competitions;
• Coronation Foursomes
• NSPCC
• Ping National Competition
• Desert Springs
We have ladies’ friendly matches during the summer months which are open to all levels of player, together with mixed matches.
All members of the club are eligible to enter Berkshire ladies competitions which include the Duncan Trophy and the Bronze League and Silver League competitions which tend to be played over the winter months.
Social and fund raising events are held at the club during the year which is open to members and their friends. Recently arranged trips to the theatre have proved to be very popular.

The Donnington Valley Golf Club Ladies Open held on Wednesday 30th September was an excellent day with 66 ladies participating from local golf clubs.
The weather on the whole was very kind after a slightly dubious start with a short spell of fine drizzle.
The winning teams were as follows:
1st Place with 83 points were Pat Hole & Pam Bowker from Drayton Park with their colleague Ingela Clebod-Row from Kirklington Golf Club.
2nd Place with 82 points were Julie Tyler, Reinette Norval & Bev Sillince from Sandford Springs
3rd Place with 81 points on count back were Frances Killen, Pat Smith & Marie Butcher from Oxford Ladies
Nearest the Pin on the 9th hole was won by Lyn McDougall from Sonning Golf Club
Longest Drive was won by Julie Mason from Sherfield Oaks Golf Club.
Congratulations to all the winners & a huge thank you for all the ladies who enetered this great day.

On a cold frosty morning 22 ladies arrived to play a Stableford ( 3 hidden holes deducted)
competition. There were winter greens to start with but good work by the greenkeepers got the girls back on the main
greens after the first few holes.
The result was as follows:
First Tess Chantrey 43 - 7 36 points
Second Lorna Gibbons 35 - 4 31 points
Third Sue Widdowson 34 - 4 30 points
Fourth Bev Seymore 35 - 7 28 points
Fifth Tricia Browning 31 - 3 28 points

23 ladies arrived to play golf. A Texas Scramble was played and the results are as follows:
First - Tess Chantrey, Caroline Lafferty and Eleanor Maguire - 76.2
Second - Angela Traill, Bev Seymour and Sue Appleton - 76.6
Third - Lorna Gibbons, Ann McMahon and Mary Pinder - 77.1

25 ladies arrive to play golf and enjoyed a Stableford '2 scores to count' competition. The winners were Tess Chantrey, Eleanor Maguire and Eileen Cantwell with 65 points. In second place - Lorna Gibbons, Marion Hayes and Debbie Goodsell with 60 points. In third place - Dorothy Savage, Sandra Nicolson and Dodie Toomey with 57 points.
Debbie Goodsell was introduced as the Ladies Vice Captain Elect and received a very warm round of applause.

A Stableford (yellow ball counts double) competition was held and the results are as follows:
First - Tricia Browning, Dorothy Savage and Eleanor Maguire - 113 points
Second - Jan Downes, Bev Seymour and Jill Barclay - 101 points
Third - Anne Jolley, Caroline Lafferty and Judy Cleaver - 94 points

A good turn out of 22 ladies attended, 3 played 9 holes the rest enjoyed a Stableford competition over 18 holes.
The result was as follows:
First Wendy Jordan ( beware the injured golfer - suffering from a strained back) 38 points
Second Bev Seymore 29 (OCB)
Third Tricia Browning 29
Fourth Kate Feaviour 28 (OCB)
Fifth Sandra Nicolson 28
The ladies were reminded to pick up their diary and "Denis the Menace" Etiquette guide. They were also informed that the R & A new Rule Books were available from the Pro Shop.
They were also given a basic guide to the new CONGU rules and were requested to keep watching the main Notice Board for the official Club notices.
